“Empowering those living in extreme poverty to end it themselves in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East”

In 1999 GHNI began its work when Hal and Lana Jones visited an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan to help. In 2000 they officially launched GHNI and gained 501(c)3 in 2003 as a nonprofit dedicated to helping those living in extreme poverty escape their poverty through a teaching and coaching process called Transformational Community Development (TCD).

GHNI currently is working in more than 100 villages in 40 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East using national staff. Our staff coaches the villagers, but the village leaders and committees must take ownership of projects and are responsible for making all decisions. Through TCD, villagers work together using resources around them to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sustaining. The village must form five committees to oversee work to be done in the five critical areas of improving their lives and their villages:

1-Clean, safe water, 2-Viable nutritional food to end chronic hunger and malnutrition, 3-Wellness, solutions for critical sanitation, disease prevention, and home health, 4-Income, resources for sustainable family income generation, 5-Education, primary level education for every girl and boy.

TCD works! We have seen dozens of villages graduate (in about 5 years). Villages who could not grow enough food for the year often have surplus food to sell (which helps solve income problems). Villages whose income was about$1/day/family now earn 5-10 times that amount. Infant mortality rates have dropped dramatically. Many times villagers who have learned TCD go to neighboring villages to teach what they learned.

Global Hope Network Intnl is also involved in: Slavery Prevention – providing slavery prevention training; Disaster Response – Short term initial relief for emergencies; Leadership Impact – Leadership and public policy training for national leaders of third world countries.
